NMC DELEGATION PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO PALESTINIAN AMBASSADOR IN GHANA

-Accra, Thurs, 3rd August 2023.

The National Muslim Conference's (NMC) management board & secretariat members, on Thursday 3rd August 2023, paid a courtesy call to The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Abdal Fatah Ahmed Khalil Alsatarri, at the Palestine embassy in Accra. The delegation was led by Rear Admiral [Rtd] Mohammed Munir Tahir - Board Member, Mr Inusah Mohammed Baba - Ag. General Secretary, and Dr Mohammed Marzuk Azindou- Chairman, Communication Committee. Other members of the delegation included Mr Abdul Samed - Secretariat, Dr Shaibu Ali - Secretariat, Mr Sherif Shaban - Secretariat and Hajia Rukaya Alhassan - Secretariat, and Sheikh Mohammed Amin Kassim - Board Member.

The ambassador warmly welcomed us to a working lunch. He spoke about the humanitarian activities Palestinians have done and continue to do in Ghana through the embassy. The leader of the delegation, Admiral Munir Tahir Mohammed introduced the team and invited the General Secretary to talk about the purpose of the visit.

The General Secretary, Mr Inusah Mohammed Baba spoke briefly about the challenges of Muslim communities in Ghana, and particularly highlighted the need for the economic empowerment of the Muslim ummah in Ghana. He shared the NMC's upcoming plan to create a chamber of commerce to promote Muslim owned businesses in Ghana & partnerships with the Muslim world, to enhance the economic empowerment agenda. He then sought advice and guidance from the ambassador on how the NMC could benefit from his vast knowledge and network of contacts in the business community.

Dr. A. M. Marzuq, a member of the NMC management, elaborated on the themes of the NMC and their importance, particularly the impact on Education, Health, and Socio-economic well-being of Muslim communities in Ghana. He assured the ambassador of NMC's commitment to stand in solidarity with Palestine and partnership in serving humanity and God, as guided by our national values of freedom and justice.

In response, the ambassador advised the NMC to remain united as Muslims and suggested ways to raise awareness and funds for the development of Muslim communities. He expressed gratitude for the visit and gifted each member of the delegation a Palestinian keffiyeh (scarf) and presented a beautiful carving of the Masjid Al Aqsa to the NMC.

The visit was seen as a meaningful exchange of ideas and a reaffirmation of the shared values and goals between the NMC, Ghanaian Muslims and the Palestinian Embassy in Ghana.
