NMCG Embarks on Four-Zone Tour to Advance Decentralisation

13 October 2026
The National Muslim Conference of Ghana (NMCG) embarked on a tour of four zones across the country as part of efforts to promote decentralisation and strengthen its regional structures. The tour covered Zone One (Central, Western and Western North Regions); Zone Two (Eastern, Volta and Oti Regions); Zone Three (Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions); and Zone Four (Upper East, Upper West, North East, Savannah and Northern Regions). Discussions focused on the operational integration of NMCG and the Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund of Ghana, including programmes in education, health, economic empowerment and the protection of Muslims’ legal rights. The engagements also addressed the establishment of regional Zakat bank accounts, the role of regional steering committees in mobilising resources and implementing projects, and accountability measures through budgeting and periodic reporting to the national headquarters. The tour forms part of NMCG’s commitment to bringing its operations closer to Muslim communities and promoting greater regional participation in the development and management of the Trust Fund.
